All the latest info on what the band is currently doing

03/11/2008 MORE ALBUM NEWS

Well, I'm happy to confirm that the last set of lyrics is now finished so we now have everything in place for the album. The new song is pretty much typical of how our writing style has developed over the last year, in that it's a real joint effort between members. The track is called "Stand", and it's got a big stomping riff courtesy of Mr Kirsten, along with more large riffs and lyrics about life handing you a lemon, and then handing the lemon back and telling life to cram it sideways.

We can't wait to play this one live, and depending on whether it fits the song, a bit of slide guitar may be in order.

So that's 10 tracks in total for the album, and we start layin' 'em down in November - more news soon!

All the best

Rich

28/08/2008 SEE RED SIGN TO PADDED CELL RECORDS!!!!!!

Rising UK melodic metal band SEE RED have signed with British metal label Padded Cell Records. The band say that they are "delighted to be working with a label that shares and understands our passion for hard-hitting metal".

Padded Cell Records M.D. Iain Westland said "We are very proud and excited to be able to work with See Red. A true force of talent, commitment and sheer musical ability combined with the will and tenacity to make it. "

The band will be recording tracks for a single release, to be followed by a full-length album which will be recorded later in the year with
Tony Dolan (ATOMKRAFT, ex-VENOM) as producer. The band hooked up with Dolan after he joined them for a performance of Thin Lizzy's classic
'Cold Sweat' at a Phil Lynott tribute gig in late 2007.

See Red will be playing new songs to be recorded for their forthcoming album at their gigs over the next few months - full details of scheduled shows are available at www.myspace.com/seeredmetal

22/07/2008 - Thanks to everyone who came along to our gig at Grand Central last Thursday. And we're playing live again this week on Friday at the Alma Inn, Bolton, with Eyesaw.

NEW SONGS

We are currently working hard on the songs which will be on our first album. If you've enjoyed our EPs, then you'll love the album :) We've got heavy grooves, fast riffs, hints of thrash, spacey mellow bits, twin leads, harmonised riffs - all the elements that people have told us they like about SEE RED.

We're hoping to have at least one more of the new songs ready for our next gig, which is at Grand Central in Manchester on Thursday 17th July. The song in question is "SEEDS OF PLAGUE", which we're currently knocking into shape at rehearsals.

08/05/2008 - Check out the gigs page, lots of new dates just in! We'll be playing new songs from our first album at our gigs from July onwards to give you a sneak preview of what's in store on our debut CD!

17/03/2008 - Gigs and More reviews!

We're playing at the Alma, Bradshawgate, Bolton this Sunday, 23rd March!

Review highlights for the "Rise" ep from www. hardrockhaven. net!

"...See Red blend the Classic Rock stylings of Thin Lizzy with more modern bands like Alice in Chains, and do leave a tangible NWOBHM taint on most of their compositions. This is no-frills heavy rock at its best, in other words.

...See Red definitely leaves you wanting to hear more of their music. That, and what's cooler than saying "See Red" when someone asks, "What the hell are you listening to?"

And www.metal4life.co.uk said "If you want to encourage new British metal, then this is a good place to start"

08/02/2008 - New Line Up, New Review, More News!

Good evening this is Ken Moustache with See Red news.

The Other Three are pleased to anounce that PETE formerly of Against The Grain and also with Deeds Of Blood is our new drummer! Pete stepped in for us before at a gig when our former drummer Dave was injured, and did a great job at extremely short notice, and we're all well chuffed to have him on board permanently. This also means that he's going to be well knackered at Metal Massacre as he'll be playing with both DOB and SR one after the other!

This does raise an ethical question however - in order to maintain continuity in our band image, should Ian and Kirsten dye their hair ginger to match the other two, or should Rich grow a beard to match the other three?

In other news, former Venom / Atomkraft dude (and Mr Lamb in "Master & Commander") Tony Dolan has agreed to produce our next studio effort (not sure if it'll be a full album or another EP)!

Before that happens, we've got a track on "Unheard Screams Vol II", a compilation from Moshpit Tragedy records from Canada - more news on this soon.

And finally, here's a new review of our "Rise" EP, from Greek metal site Metalzone.

"The band See Red from Britain returns with their second effort, their second EP “Rise”
Their music is somewhere between Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy, Soundgarden and Corrosion Of Conformity with vocals close to Chris Cornell’s ones. Four pretty good compotisions... The production is also pretty good with a very good guitar sound. Of course is difficult for someone to understand the music of See Red from these four tracks (about 20 minutes of music) but their sound is really good and this release is probably for the more “alternative” listeners"

09/01/2008 - Line-up Change, New Year Plans

Happy New Year !

Well, 2008 has already brought a change in the world of See Red, as we bid goodbye to our drummer D.J. Powell. We'd like to make it clear that this is a mutual decision down to musical differences, and we remain friends with Dave and look forward to seeing his next musical project take shape. Dave is a versatile musician with interests in a range of different musical styles, so whichever direction he goes in will be worth listening to

We'd like to thank him for laying down the groove (daddy-o) for the last 4 years, and we wish him every success for the future.

As for the rest of us, well, we'll have more news about our various nefarious activities for you soon - watch this space!

Cheers!

SEE RED

17/12/2007 - Thanks to all the Bolton Metalheads who came to the gig with the awesome SONIC BREW on Saturday night! We had a great time, and as usual you guys gave us an amazing welcome and loud support! THANKS!!!! and have a great Christmas!!!!!

And don't miss our show on SUNDAY, 23rd DECEMBER at The Cellar Bar, King Street, Blackburn with DIZZY LIZZY! We loved playing at the Cellar Bar back in 2006, and the CORRUPTED team who are organising the show always put on a great night, so some and rock out for Christmas!!!

ALSO.....the second pressing of our "Rise" EP is out now, and makes an ideal Christmas present for the headbanger in your life!

13/11/2007 - Well, it's been a busy few weeks for us - a video of our performance at The Boys Are Back In Bolton with Atomkraft / ex-Venom frontman Tony "Demolition Man" Dolan is now online on our myspace page www.myspace.com/seeredmetal - check it out!

We also managed to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat on Sunday night at the ALMAGEDDON metal fest - Dave damaged his elbow on Saturday and was unable to play, so Pete from DEEDS OF BLOOD stepped into the breach and got behind the kit for us. The crowd at the Alma got behind us, and we managed to pull it off, which was a relief!

More news on the cd front - the first pressing of "Rise" has now sold out, and we're awaiting a re-press which should arrive very soon.

18/09/2007 - See Red's new EP "RISE" is available NOW!!!!!! Go to the "Shopping Cart" page on this site and order yours today!!!!!

12/09/2007 - Well, we've added more gigs (see gigs page) and we're gearing up for "The Boys Are Back In Bolton", where we'll be playing a brand new song, "Wasted", which we're very excited about. We've also been working hard on our own interpretations of three Thin Lizzy / Phil Lynott solo songs which we'll be playing. Which songs? Come along and find out :)

Also, we'll be adding reviews of movies, cds, books, etc, that the band have been enjoying and think you might enjoy too on the "Cool Stuff" page. The first posting is the first in a series of reviews by Rich, focussing on a range of self-defence dvds by Geoff Thompson, to see how effective they are in instructing someone who wants to find out more about the subject of self defence (i.e. Rich!). Check it out!

09/08/2007 - Former VENOM / current ATOMKRAFT frontman to play with SEE RED at The Boys Are Back In Bolton

The Boys Are Back In Bolton is a charity event which celebrates the life and music of rock legend Philip Lynott and THIN LIZZY.

The event has the blessing of Philip's mother, Philomena Lynott, who will be opening the night's festivities with a specially recorded video message. All profits from the gig will go to Philomena's charity, The Roisin Dubh Trust, which is hoping to set up a Philip Lynott Music Scholarship to benefit underpriveliged young people.

The gig will feature top THIN LIZZY tribute band TIZZ LIZZY from Belfast who have wowed audiences at similar tribute events in Scotland and Ireland, along with rising U.K. rockers THE TEMPLE DOGS and SEE RED, and an acoustic set from ACOUSTIC LIZZY (who will also be performing at the second annual Philip Lynott Statue Memorial Concert in Dublin, on Saturday, August 18).

SEE RED's set will feature a guest appearance from current ATOMKRAFT and former VENOM frontman Tony "Demolition" Dolan (a big fan of LIZZY), who will be joining the band for a blast through LIZZY classic "Cold Sweat".

TIZZ LIZZY will perform well-loved classic hits from throughout Philip's career, and the other bands performing will be playing gems from THIN LIZZY's albums and Philip's solo albums. Frontman Matt Wilson bears a jaw-dropping resemblance to Phil Lynott — see photo photo.

If you're a LIZZY fan, mark Saturday, September 22 in your diary now and join us at Bolton's premier rock venue, The Soundhouse, for a night to remember! Doors open 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are priced at £5 and are available from www.theboysarebackinbolton.com and from Bolton Albert Halls ticket office on (+ 44) 1204 334400.

Thanks to everyone who turned out to the Alma, Bolton last night. We had a rockin night. Hope you did too.

Rich played an acoustic set this weekend with his friend Dave Rowley from the Temple Dogs at "Dedication in Dumfries", a tribute gig in Scotland which celebrates the life and music of Phil Lynott of Thin Lizzy.

The guest of honour was Phil's mother, Philomena Lynott, pictured below with Dave & Rich. Also check out Rich's new tattoo of Phil & Jimi Hendrix.

The concert was in aid of a charity called the Roisin Dubh Trust which commemorates Phil's life and music, and is planning to launch a Philip Lynott Music Scholarship in the long term www.roisindubh.info
